Today I got a real nice kick in the arse. It was a day of frantic packing and then worrying about how to get the bloody baggage to stay within the max limit of 40Kg. Now, a lot of you may think that 40K should pretty much suffice, but in reality… IT AINT ENOUGH! Considering most students go there to “set up base”, 40K is not nearly enough. I had to prune my baggage to the extent that none of the new stuff that I bought had any packaging. Enuf bout tht … I went to the beautiful Bangalore International Airport in the evening at approx 7pm. Its a 35Km drive from my residence and my parents accompanied me to the airport.
Now, I really had a proverbial “sword of Damocles” hanging over my head as my cabin baggage (comprising my laptop case and my nike backpack) was 5KG OVERWEIGHT. If caught, I’d be charged an excess baggage charge of 5K (40 SGD per Kilo). However, noone checked anything and I heaved a sigh of relief once the check in was done.
Now, Singaporean girls are PRETTY! The flight stewardesses (esp the one servicing my section) were really cute. And the Aircraft was awesome. I saw “Run, Fatboy, Run!” on the entertainment “system”… quite a nice movie. However, I was really sleepy and tired by this time, thanks to the frantic pack-a-thon prior to my departure. So, I decided to get some shut-eye. I am a really finicky sleeper, and so I could barely sleep for 50 mins. My aircraft landed at 6:10am local time.
Now, my first impressions (and final impressions) of Singapore Airport, also known as the Changi Airport was that it is an AWESOME place. I had to switch terminals and used a skytrain which gave me a brief, but impressive view of the city. I nearly walked my arse off, and thanks to my overweight cabin baggage (~11Kg) which I was lugging around, I think I MYSELF LOST A FREAKING KILO walking almost a Km.
Right now, am waiting in the departure lounge of terminal 3, waiting for 8:55am (singapore time; its 8:13am atm). I’ve slept for less than an hour, but because of daylight, I’m finding it really hard to sleep. The next leg of the journey is going to be excruciating I guess, coz thats going to be a 7.5Hr flight. I think I’ll get some shut-eye then and hopefully I’ll simply pass out on my seat.
